Läget i Sudan är världens största hungerkris. Kriget fortsätter att förstöra liv och försörjningsmöjligheter.
Mer än hälften av befolkningen (nästan 26 miljoner människor) står nu inför akut hunger på krisnivåer och 14 områden har förklarats vara i riskzonen för hungersnöd.
World Food Programme (WFP) har börjat leverera mat riktad till hundratusentals hungriga människor i Sudan, med hopp om att kunna expandera till fler områden trots enorma säkerhetsutmaningar, inklusive intensiva strider som rasar i delar av landet.

I Port Sudan, där tiotusentals människor söker skydd på flykt undan konflikt, har farligt höga nivåer av undernäring uppmätts hos spädbarn. Hungriga människor fyller skolor och andra provisoriska bostäder och klamrar sig fast vid knappa ägodelar från sina gamla liv.
WFP har nått en halv miljon människor med akut behov av livsmedelsassistans, med planer på att utöka insatsen för att nå 900 000 – om finansiering tillkommer – efter de dödliga jordbävningarna som inträffade längs gränsen mellan Turkiet och Syrien den 6 februari.

Var och en av de 690 miljoner hungriga människor i världen idag har rätt att leva fredligt och utan hunger. Idag har den norska Nobelkommittén riktat globala strålkastare mot dem och de förödande konsekvenserna av konflikt. Klimatförändringar och ekonomiska påfrestningar har ytterligare förvärrat deras situation.
