Med en grund i de humanitära principerna - humanitet, neutralitet, opartiskhet och oberoende – fortsätter World Food Programme med insatser för människorna i Afghanistan, ett land där var tredje person upplever hunger.
Konflikter, ekonomiska chocker, extremt klimat och skyhöga priser på gödningsmedel skapar tillsammans en livsmedelskris av aldrig tidigare skådade proportioner. Så många som 783 miljoner människor står inför kronisk hunger.
FN:s livsmedels- och jordbruksorganisation (FAO) och FN:s World Food Programme (WFP) har idag publicerat rapporten The Early Warning Analysis of Acute Food Insecurity Hotspots, som beskriver en farlig kombination av konflikt, ekonomisk nedgång, klimatextremer och COVID-19-pandemin.
