OUGADOUGOU/KÖPENHAMN – Förenta Nationernas World Food Programme (WFP) varnar idag om en eskalerande humanitär kris som drivs av vidsträckt våld och de långvariga effekterna av klimatförändring som drabbat Burkina Faso och grannländerna i centrala Sahel i Västafrika.
Av de mer än 12 miljoner människor som vi hjälper i Jemen varje månad, är det kvinnor och flickor som med största sannolikhet kommer att gå hungriga.

Hunger slår hårt mot alla, men den påverkar vissa mer än andra. Kvinnor — särskilt i tider av krig och konflikt — löper högre risk att drabbas av det lidande som krig orsakar.
Rom/Köpenhamn – Nya bevis stärker varningssignalerna om att antalet människor som lider av hunger i världen fortsätter att öka. 2017 steg siffran till 821 miljoner människor, det motsvarar en av nio, enligt rapporten The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2018 som släpps idag.
”Dagens omröstning i säkerhetsrådet är ett enormt steg framåt i kampen för att bryta den cirkel av konflikt och hunger som står i vägen för välstånd och fred för hundratals miljoner människor,” säger David Beasley. ”Säkerhetsrådet erkänner att en tryggad livsmedelsförsörjning är en väsentlig faktor för fred och säkerhet.
