Programmet är utformat för att komplettera den Ukrainska regeringens sociala bistånd till de mest utsatta ukrainarna under kriget och samtidigt stödja en hållbar övergång från humanitära insatser till mer motståndskraftiga nationella system.
FAO och WFP varnar för att den akuta livsmedelsotryggheten sannolikt kommer att försämras ytterligare i 18 områden - totalt 22 länder - under perioden juni till november 2023.
Antalet människor som nu står inför en akut otryggad livsmedelsförsörjning (IPC/CH 3 eller värre) kommer att stiga till 265 miljoner under 2020. Det innebär en ökning med 130 miljoner från de 135 miljoner under 2019, till följd av de ekonomiska konsekvenserna av COVID-19, enligt en WFP-projektion.
En gemensam analys från FAO och WFP av länder och situationer där akut otrygg livsmedelsförsörjning sannolikt kommer att försämras kraftigt under de kommande månaderna.
Demokratiska republiken Kongo är, tillsammans med Afghanistan, Jemen och Syrien, hem åt en av de största nödsituationer WFP arbetar i - efter decennier av konflikter och klimatförändringar som fortsätter att minska människors tillgång till de mest grundläggande livsmedlen och öka hungern till aldrig tidigare skådade nivåer.
