World Food Programme (WFP) har börjat leverera mat riktad till hundratusentals hungriga människor i Sudan, med hopp om att kunna expandera till fler områden trots enorma säkerhetsutmaningar, inklusive intensiva strider som rasar i delar av landet.

I samband med öppningen av FN:s Food Systems Pre-Summit i Rom den 26 juli krävde World Food Programmes (WFP) verkställande direktör, David Beasley, kraftiga åtgärder för att avskaffa hunger.
Trots att både kompetensen och resurserna finns för att få slut på hunger så riktas satsningar och uppmärksamhet åt ett annat håll.

Barn som gråter av hunger och dör av undernäring. Människor som riskerar att bli beskjutna för att nå fram till hjälpkonvojer och som tvingas leva på djurfoder och soppa gjord på löv och gräs.
När vi hade vår första dag i UN City (FN-staden) i Köpenhamn i augusti såg situationen för coronapandemin ljusare ut i Danmark i jämförelse med andra platser i världen.
Det låter kanske inte så anmärkningsvärt med ett växthus som odlar chili, gurkor och tomater - tills du får reda på att det ligger i Centralamerikas ”torra korridor”, där torka kopplad till väderfenomenet El Niño driver allt fler människor in i otrygg livsmedelsförsörjning.
